A message from our President & CEO
This year, United Way of Calgary and Area is celebrating its 80th birthday. This marks 80 years of building relationships that have helped shape the community we live in today. Over our eight decades, our original purpose—to improve lives through the power of communities—hasn’t changed. Yet, how we fulfill that purpose has evolved over time to address the challenges of a changing world.
United Way of Calgary and Area exists to improve local lives. We do this by helping Calgary and area identify its most pressing social issues and find solutions that change lives. We partner with agencies, donors, corporations, volunteers, academia, and governments in a collective effort to build a resilient community where everyone thrives.
In 2019, our community helped 179,162 individuals build better lives.

Our work wouldn’t be possible without our supporters. They dedicate thousands of hours and millions of dollars every year to make our communities safer, more inclusive, and better for everyone. They push us to work smarter, and partner with us in discovering new ways of responding to changing community needs. They look to us to lead the way in large-scale initiatives that have the power to improve entire systems. They play an integral part in driving social change and are a vital part of our community.
This is collective impact.
This is you.
