Healthy, safe, and respectful relationships are vital to our emotional well-being.

They help us navigate our stressors, solve problems, and overcome challenges. Issues such as domestic violence and intergenerational trauma can negatively impact the physical and mental well-being of individuals and families, the social-emotional development of children, and can push individuals and families toward poverty.

Healthy Relationships = Healthy Life

Healthy Relationships is a school-based prevention program for youth aged 12-21, offered by the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter in collaboration with the Calgary Catholic School District, Calgary Board of Education, and Rocky View School Division. Individual and group counselling services support youth who are struggling with a peer, dating or family-based relationships. For a term of four months, the Healthy Relationships therapist works alongside the program participant, supporting them in the development of healthy ideas and practices regarding communication, trust, abusive behaviours, boundaries, and personal consent.
